Available appliance types
- Fixed metal braces: the most common and effective option for almost every case, and the most affordable.
- Ceramic braces: the same mechanics with tooth-coloured brackets that are far less visible.
- Clear removable aligners: transparent trays changed every two weeks, suited to mild and moderate crowding and to patients who prefer removing them while eating.
- Growth and expansion appliances for children: used early to guide jaw development and shorten later treatment.
When should a child be assessed?
A first orthodontic assessment is recommended around age seven, even if treatment does not start immediately. Early intervention in selected cases shortens treatment during the teenage years.
How long treatment takes
Most cases take 12 to 24 months. The duration depends on the degree of crowding, whether extractions are needed for space, the patient's age and — most importantly — keeping adjustment appointments and wearing elastics or aligners as instructed.
Caring for your teeth during treatment
- Brush after every meal and use an interdental brush around the brackets.
- Avoid hard and sticky foods that break brackets or dislodge the wire.
- Regular scaling visits to prevent gum inflammation and white spots.
- Contact us straight away if a wire or bracket comes loose rather than waiting for the next visit.
Treatment cost
The consultation and imaging fee is published; the orthodontic fee itself is set after the case study because it differs between metal, ceramic and aligners and with treatment length. You receive a written plan with the full cost and payment schedule before the appliance is fitted.
